I can hear it now, individuals looking for new grad nurse jobs are saying “There aren’t any new grad nurse jobs!”, “A sure thing for job security? Then where are all the new grad nurse jobs?!”, “How can I get any experience if no one will hire me?”, “Where are all the new grad nurse jobs I was promised? All positions are for experienced nurses?”, “Nursing shortage? What nursing shortage?”, “Why is it so hard to find a job? I’m a nurse for goodness sakes!”

In some situations these are common complaints heard from people searching for new grad nurse jobs right out of school. In this situation let me give some advice and a dose of encouragement. Take a deep breath, there are new grad nurse jobs out there!

New Grad Nurse Jobs

The job market, in some places, is very tight. And this also goes for new grad nurse jobs as well. This situation isn’t completely new, but it can be frustrating. When I first began my career there seemed to be few new grad nurse jobs, nurses were being laid off, allied professions were being cut…this was over 2 decades ago.

To all nurses both seasoned and new grads, there IS a nurse shortage, we are all just caught up in a strange situation currently. But trust me, there is a shortage, and it will only get worse.

New Grad Nurse Jobs

The problem seems to be that, like every other business around, hospitals are having to make the same gut-wrenching budget cuts as everyone else. It’s hitting so many areas of nursing right now…students, faculty, schools, hospitals…everyone is affected by the current economic situation. Hospitals, whether they’re short on nurses or not at the moment, are dealing with a cash-crisis and are taking a close look at new grad nurse jobs.

The reality is no matter how great you were in school, or how many extra hours put it, or how how long you worked in a hospital as a tech before you went to nursing school, it still takes a good year or so to turn a new grad into a fully independent nurse. This is simply how it is.

New Grad Nurse Jobs

They will spend tens of thousands of dollars on you, above and beyond the salary they pay you, just to get you to the place where you actually “earn” that salary. Don’t be offended…the hospital typically knows that you are a great investment! These just aren’t typical times right now, especially for new grad nurse jobs.

You may not believe it right now, but most of the skills of nursing are learned after you get out of school! In school, you are learning the “science” of nursing, the “theory” of nursing. Upon graduation, you will learn how to apply that science and theory in the real world of nursing.

Your clinical rotations were not the real world. Nursing requires judgment skills; judgment skills are the result of experience backed by the theory and science you learned in school. It just takes time.

Just as all nurses need certain levels of caring and compassion, so to does the pediatric nurse. This particular area of nursing sometimes requires more patience than others, but it is so well worth it to care for the young.

The age range that the pediatric nurse is historically responsible for is from birth until the age of 18. The pediatric nurse is usually the primary education resource for the parents, and can work in such varied areas as doctors offices, clinics and even home health.

The pediatric nurse usually has different qualities, in addition to those basic in nursing, compared with those of the traditional nurse. For one, the pediatric has to be a patient individual. Children become frightened easily, especially in a medical setting. Sometimes a little extra time spent with the child making them more comfortable with the situation is all that’s needed to make a difference.

They must also be understanding and compassionate to the needs of the parent. Especially during ill visits, parents are generally just as anxious if not more so than the child. Pediatric nurses can be instrumental in calming both parent and child.

Nurses get a great emotional feeling from helping their patients, and nowhere can this feeling be more enhanced than in pediatric nursing. There is just something about seeing to the needs of a child and easing new parent concerns that can really make your day.

There are some common misbelief’s about the pediatric nursing field. One of these is that caring for children isn’t stressful compared to other nursing specialties. All I can say is that whenever your job entails caring for the well being and health of other human beings, there is stress.

As a pediatric nurse there are several certifications you can attain through training such as the Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and the certified pediatric nurse designation from the Pediatric Nurses Association.

Hospitalist jobs have recently hit the hospital job market due to the rising cost of medical care. The high cost of medical care coupled with the high demands of a growing, aging population has resulted in many changes in the medical field. The hospitalist has become a burgeoning career option for those originally seeking a career path as a Medical Doctor.

Ten years ago is when the major shift occurred. Hospitalist became high in demand. They are found in most hospitals around the nation.

They are a gap that needed to be filled with doctors cut back on their services and hours. Hospitalist have been able to fill that void. They are in high demand and are often seen working with patients in the hospital’s emergency room. When the patient’s physician is not on call or is not available, then the hospitalist can step in and manage the care. When doing so, they must talk to the primary care physician and follow the protocol they select for their patient. It is essentially their job to be the middle man for the patient and their doctor.

This is a position that holds many advantages over a visiting MD. Firstly, the hospitalist is more familiar with the workings of the particular hospital. They have the in on the politics, operations and staff. They are also more intimately involved with the patients than the MD may be. They are the first to know if anything goes wrong and the immediate actions that must be taken.

Being on-site at a hospital allows the hospitalist to form relationships with their patients. This is not always the case with the hospital’s MDs. The MDs will go on round sometimes not even knowing the names of the various patients.

Becoming a hospitalist requires a medical degree. Candidates must attend and complete medical school in order to receive their license. Upon finishing, they can move on to a specialty. The most popular being internal medicine. Other popular choices are family practice and pediatrics.

If they are members of an existing medical practice then they can work with that clientele at the practice’s associate hospital. Or they may choose to work independently and assist several different practices. Physicians are always looking to reduce their workload and will turn to hospitalist for the very valuable added assistance.

<noindex>Hospitalist jobs</noindex> are becoming plentiful. The salary is very good and the hours are reasonable. This position is most visible in the emergency room, where patients first come in contact with a hospitalist. They are also mostly found during a patients hospital stay. It is a very important position as they are stepping in for the patient’s medical doctor. Patients can help in the process by communicating any particular medications or treatments they are currently under. Or any special dietary needs. The hospitalist will also see to it that the patients receives any necessary extended care by a nurse or therapist.

Having trouble filling in staffing shortage at your hospital? As one of the largest healthcare staffing companies in the country, they help connect highly qualified physicians and pharmacists with your hospital’s <noindex>family practice jobs</noindex> and <noindex>physician jobs</noindex>.

Those of you who want to be doctors might not only be thinking about how much schooling you have to do. You might be thinking about where you can work. What is open to you? What are some physician jobs? We have a few of them for you to consider right here.

One of them is to work in a hospital in a certain field. There are some of you who might want to be a cancer doctor or someone who works directly with women. If you are working in one of those fields, you can find that you can work at a hospital or with a group that is tied with a hospital network.

Others might just practice general medicine. There are a number of areas that these who practice general medicine can work. For instance, there are some who work in the hospital, but they choose an area such as the emergency room. Here you work with diagnosing what something might be or getting a second opinion from a doctor with a specialization.

Other doctors who practice general medicine might work with a free clinic or they might work with an after hours clinic. These are becoming all the more popular and are springing up left and right. The ER might be a place that you don’t consider going to when it’s something small. These places help those who might not be able to pay for or get to an ER.

Some of the doctors might go to open their own practice. They see regular patients and do the things that you might think about when you consider being a doctor. This would be giving shots to kids. Helping those who get strep throat and much more. When you do this, you are still using all those things that you learn.

Then, there are some who after they have done one of these, they do something greater. They give back to those who have given them the education that they have. They do this by then teaching classes to those who are aspiring to be doctors as well. It’s a cycle really.

Last of all, you might find that some of them go overseas to practice medicine. They have a heart for those areas that are under developed. They might go with a missionary organization and give their services to some who otherwise might not be able to be helped at all.

Many of these doctors are asked when they have worked in a field long enough to become public speakers. Some are then inspired to write books. They are inspired to share what they know so that others might learn from them and advance science. There are a whole lot of things that they are called to do.

You see, these are all types of <noindex>medical health care jobs</noindex> that physicians can do. Some might take some time. Payment depends on which choice you choose. All of these are notable causes and you go to school for the same amount of time. In all these ways, you are helping people as well. There might be something that is calling you to it.

This dedicated health care staffing centre offers the most practical and diverse medical jobs across the country. We have a wide variety of medical health care jobs available, as well as employment opportunities for <noindex>hospitalist jobs</noindex> and <noindex>hospital jobs</noindex>.

While many industries are losing jobs, the health care field continues to grow. As baby boomers age and Americans just are generally living longer than ever before, the demand for health care is high. Those wanting to join the health care field have many choices available to them, from administrative jobs to patient care jobs. There are entry level jobs available as well as medical jobs for those who have or are willing to get advanced schooling and training.

Physician assistants are becoming more common in doctors offices and this job field continues to grow very fast. This person performs many of the same tasks that the physician does, but they work under the doctors supervision. You can become a physician assistant in approximately two to three years. The duties that assistants can do varies from state to state. Some are able to write prescriptions without a doctors signature while others cannot.

Medical secretaries are also in great demand. They perform administrative duties in health care facilities such as hospitals, clinics, doctors offices and nursing homes. Although formal training above a high school diploma is not always required, employers will look favorable upon medical secretary training or at the very least a strong administrative background.

Along the same lines as medical secretaries are medical assistants. Medical assistants not only perform clerical duties, but also do some medical procedures such as taking and recording the temperature and blood pressure of a patient. They may also take the medical history of a patient and some even draw blood. If you are interested in <noindex>hospitalist jobs</noindex>, you can usually finish training in ten to eighteen months time.

As more people need health care, there is a greater need for physicians, surgeons, and nurses. To become a physician or surgeon, you will need to complete four years of college, four years of medical school and another three to eight years for residency training. It will take four years to become a registered nurse. You can become a licensed practical or vocational nurse in twelve months to two years time.

There has also become a greater need for more pharmacists. Much of the college education that is required for a pharmacist is the same as a doctor, but a pharmacist can receive their degree in about eight years. Also working in pharmacies are technicians and assistants. The pharmacy tech assists the pharmacist and works under their supervision. Some pharmacies will not require a technician to be certified, but they usually desire someone certified to fill this position. To be a pharmacy assistant, you should have good customer service skills as you are the first contact person the public sees. A pharmacy assistant job is usually entry level.

There are also jobs associated with the health care field that you can train to do and work from your home. Medical billing and medical transcription are two such jobs. Medical billing clerks bill insurance companies for services received by the patient. A billing clerk works in hospitals, doctors offices, clinics and some are independent contractors who work from their home. Most billers who work from home successfully have had some training and or experience working in an office setting. Medical transcriptionists transcribe doctors notes and must be proficient in medical terminology as well as have good transcription skills. Training can usually be completed in less than eighteen months. Like a medical biller, some work in traditional settings while other transcriptionists work from home.

There are many choices for the person just beginning their career or for those who want to try something new. With lots of medical jobs to pick from, it is really up to you to decide which career path fits your interest and qualifications that you have or are willing to attain.

This dedicated healthcare staffing centre offers the most practical and diverse <noindex>medical jobs</noindex> across the country. We have a wide variety of <noindex>physician jobs</noindex> available, as well as employment opportunities for hospitalist jobs and RN jobs.

All civilized societies need medical care, and hospitals have always been the best way to deliver all sorts of medical care from routine checkups to intricate cardiac surgeries. And it takes an entire plethora of individuals to keep a hospital running at peak efficiency. Hospitalist jobs in the US have always been and will always be in demand, no matter what the economy is doing at any point.

Along with medical professionals that include doctors and nurses, hospitals need anesthesiologists, operating room technicians, pharmacists, Xray technicians and physical therapists. And that’s only the beginning. Social workers, mental health professionals, counselors of all sorts, and psychiatrists are needed on staff as well. There are a wide variety of <noindex>hospitalist jobs</noindex>.

The laboratories must be fully staffed at all times in order to run routine tests and emergency diagnostics. Phlebotomists are needed to run around the hospital to take patients’ blood for various workups, and other patients are brought to the labs and other diagnostic areas for a broad range of tests that include MRIs and CT scans.

Administrative, accounting, marketing, IT, and even security personnel are needed. Let’s not forget the food and dietary needs of the patients and staff, either. Many large medical centers need staff to prepare thousands and thousands of meals a day of every type from simple sandwiches to foods that adhere to special diets and even religious needs.

Housekeepers need to keep all areas spotless constantly in order to reduce the spread of germs and infection. Orderlies and even volunteers help out with all patient care that the licensed professionals can’t find time to do themselves.

Hospitals are businesses. They are run like any other business. Aside from hospitals that must provide free care to the indigent, hospitals need to make a profit in order to stay in business. Marketing departments have grown over the years from perhaps a secretary who helped place some ads in industry magazines, to experienced executives with years of experience in multi media marketing campaigns. Hospitals now must compete for patients and they need to get the word out that they are indeed the best choice for a patient’s needs.

Entire specialties have sprung up that help monitor costs and billing by managing all patient billing to insurance companies. These same departments typically are responsible for admittance procedures as they verify insurance information prior to having patients receive services.

Because staffing is so important, hospitals have grown their personnel departments into large full service human resource groups that have highly skilled recruiters with years of experience in the health care field. They have the best technology at their disposal so that they can search for and hire for every position that comes available.

Many hospitals have open staffing. This means you can walk in to most HR departments and at least drop off a resume and fill out an application. For critical hires like doctors and nurses, many individuals are hired on the spot.

If you need to find a job, or if you are specifically looking to work in a hospital environment, check out the websites of the hospitals in your area. Many have very detailed Career sections where you can apply online.

When it comes to nurse practitioners, most people do not have an understanding of them. The facts are that these highly trained professionals can provide the very same care that most doctors do, but with other benefits included.

There are several myths surrounding this field and they are due to people not really knowing anything about it. Many clinics now offer the choice of doctor or nurse and given that most choose the physician. The thing is that the nurse can provide the same care as the doctor and are just as competent.

Most do not realize that these nurses can diagnose any common health problem and provide medication. They have spent a great number of years in school, and their training matches that of the doctor. Their residential clinicals are also very similar.

School requirements

When it comes to getting a degree in this up and coming field, it usually takes about two years of training. This will be based on the amount of schooling and classes that have already been finished. A school counseling professional will likely be able to assist in going over these details and choosing future classes.

Before ever considering the practitioner program a nursing degree must be obtained. This can be from any reputable two year school. After this goal is reached then it is time to move towards the next one. It is a hard area of study, but it will be worth the extra efforts in the end.

Clinicals are also required and can usually be done in a minimal amount of time. They are vital in giving any medical professional the hands on experiences that cannot be found in the classroom. The next step will be to take a test that is given by the state of residence. This is a very intense exam and is formatted the same in almost all places.

Many jobs

After gaining the best of educations, a nursing professional can easily obtain work. There are many <noindex>nurse practitioner jobs</noindex> on the market. They are very sought after as they have such a vast amount of training. The great part is that jobs can be found in any area of medicine.

It is typical for most of the specialists to pick a job in family care. This is where they can see patients each day and care for the common ailments that people often suffer from. However, there are also those nurses who go beyond this field and find employment in more exciting places. Many choose to work with athletes and others find that the elderly offer a more rewarding experience.

The field of education also provides many opportunities. Colleges are currently seeking out nurses who specialize in their fields. They make for great instructors as they have had the same experiences that most nursing students are going through. This makes the pupils more comfortable and provides them with a role model for all of their future endeavors.

Nurse practitioners can provide all of the same things that most physicians can. They have the same type of training behind their services and there is not as long of a wait to see them. Next time you are offered the choice, be sure to try the nurse. It may be one of the best decisions you have made.

Overview

An occupational therapist helps people with disabilities to learn the skills or recover the skills to be more independent in their lives. Traditionally occupational therapy (OT) is concerned with the small muscles, such as in the hand, while physical therapy deals mainly with large muscle groups and mobility. According to “U. S. News and World Report, ” 50% of occupational therapists report that their jobs are not stressful, making OT the ninth least stressful job in the country.

To be an effective occupational therapist you must have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to imagine effective adaptations to assist a patient to become independent with a particular skill or skill set. Often a patient makes very slow progress and may become very frustrated or noncompliant in practicing therapy at home between therapy appointments. Patience and the ability to motivate and encourage clients are essential characteristics of a good OT.

Education

In order to work as an occupational therapist, you must have at least a master’s degree from an accredited OT program that includes a minimum of 24 hours supervised field work with clients. Following completion of the master’s degree, therapists who want to practice the profession must pass a national certification test. Following passage of the test, the are officially “Occupational Therapist Registered” and can put the designation after their names with the letters OTR.

Psychology, anthropology, liberal arts, anatomy and biology all make excellent undergraduate degrees for the individual intending to pursue a master’s degree. In the master’s program coursework focuses on application of occupational therapy theory, behavioral sciences, life sciences and physical sciences.

Currently their are 150 master’s and combined bachelor’s-master’s degree and four doctoral programs in the United States that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).

“U. S. News and World Report” magazine ranked the top occupational therapy programs in the United States. The top five programs are Boston College (Sargent), Washington University in St. Louis, University of Southern California, University of Illinois in Chicago, Tufts Boston and the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Expected Job Growth

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, <noindex>occupational therapy jobs</noindex> is expected to grow significantly faster than most fields, particularly in the sub-field working with the elderly. It ranked as one of the 50 best careers of 2010 in “U. S. News and World Report.”

In 2008, only 105,000 people were working as occupational therapists. This is projected to increase by 26% between 2008 and 2018. The anticipated number of occupational therapists working in the U. S. In 2018 is 131,300.

Salary

Most occupational therapists work in hospitals, but can also be found working in nursing homes, schools, private practice, mental health settings and in home health care.

In 2008, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the average salary for OTs was $67,780. The top 10% earned more than $98,310, while the bottom 10% earned less than $42,820.

Therapists working in home health care services were the most highly paid, averaging a salary of about $74,510 per year. Those working in nursing homes averaged $72,790 a year, while licensed occupational therapy professionals working in schools earned about $60,020 per year.
